2015 Cameron Handicap Nominations Released

Nineteen runners have been included in nominations for Friday’s 2015 Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) in Newcastle; highlighted by the pending appearance of some of the Spring Carnival’s most exciting prospects.

Hooked charged home to win the Cameron Handicap in 2014 and has been included in nominations for a title defence on Friday.

Posting five wins and two minors through 26 career starts so far, Hooked continued to impress following his success in the Cameron Handicap last year; running third in the major Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) and winning the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) before finishing fifth in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m).

Returning in autumn this year for fourth in the Group 1 Cantebury Stakes (1400m), the Casino Prince entire was unable to make much of an impact through his next three starts, but returned this time for success in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) on September 5th.

Chris Waller is set to launch a multi-pronged attack on the 2015 Cameron Handicap after including four runners in nominations, including Flamingo Star and Sadler’s Lake.

German import Flamingo Star has form around some of the world’s standout racehorses and will relish the 1500m of the 2015 Cameron Handicap.

Running eighth in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m) on debut in Australia on May 23rd, the Areion entire returned to the paddock after placing second in the Listed Wayne Wilson (1600m) on June 6th and will have taken plenty of condition from his first-up run in the Tramway Stakes.

Sadler’s Lake was a strong and consistent performer for Waller through the recent autumn winter carnivals and will carrying winning form into the 2015 Cameron Handicap after taking out a Randwick minor over 1400m first-up on September 5th.

Running fourth in the Listed South Pacific (1400m) upon resuming in autumn, the High Chaparral gelding progressed to success in the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) before finishing fifth in the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes (2020m) and fourth in the Group 1 Queensland Derby (2200m).

The 2015 Cameron Handicap final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
