Kenny’s World Claims Record Breaking Win in 2010 Cameron Handicap

September 15th, 2010

In an upset result at Newcastle yesterday, $18 longshot Kenny’s World scored victory in the $150,000 Group 3 Patinack Farm Cameron Handicap (1300m) breaking a race record that had stood for over three decades.

The Graeme Murray-trained Kenny’s World was backing up from an eye-catching win in the Listed Show Country Quality at Warwick Farm, the six-year-old making it back to back wins after a record breaking victory in the 2010 Cameron Handicap.

Kenny’s World won in a scintillating 1:15.39, eclipsing Luskin Star’s previous record set back in 1977.

Kenny’s World, ridden to perfection by Tim Clark, beat home two of the other outside chances in the race yesterday defeating Prince Braeman ($26) by one and three-quarter lengths with Chasm ($26) a further neck away in third.

After settling midfield, Kenny’s World and Clark make their move along the rails on the home straight, taking the lead and coasting to victory.

Unlucky runs saw the two warm favourites, Star Of Octagonal ($3.70) and Trusting ($4) finish dead last and second last respectively.

Kenny’s World (Kenny’s Best Pal x See The Stars) has now won 10 of their 26 career stars earning in excess of $613,000.

Kembla Grange-based trainer Murray is now looking towards a run in the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on October 2 for his inform gelding.
